Classification of enterprises Sectors FADN/FSDN activities include agriculture, horticulture, and other agriculture-related business activities practiced on the farm (farm tourism, machine contracting, further food processing, etc.). Information on the forestry sector is also collected for national use. The revenues and expenses of the enterprises, as well as balance sheet items, are allocated to these sectors. EconomyDoctors Agriculture and Horticulture service provides only the results for agriculture and horticulture. Regions The online service provides almost all regional classifications based on municipal divisions. Standard outputs, economic size, and type of farming The definition of the farm's type of farming and size class is based on the standard outputs (Standard Output, SO) defined in the EU farm typology. Standard outputs, i.e., production values per hectare or per animal, are calculated for each crop and farm animal by region as five-year averages. When the number of hectares for each crop and the number of farm animals in the enterprise are multiplied by their respective standard outputs and summed up, the total standard output of the enterprise is obtained. The crop areas and livestock numbers of the enterprises are multiplied by the product-specific standard outputs. The sum of these values yields the economic farm size of the enterprise. FADN/FSDN enterprises are divided into classes according to their total standard output, i.e., economic size: Class number: lower limit, € - upper limit, € 5: 15,000 - 25,000 6: 25,000 - 50,000 7: 50,000 - 100,000 8: 100,000 - 250,000 9: 250,000 - 500,000 10: 500,000 - 750,000 11: 750,000 - 1,000,000 12: 1,000,000 - 1,500,000 13: 1,500,000 - 3,000,000 14: 3,000,000 - To calculate the type of farming of an enterprise, the standard outputs from different products or product groups are compared to the sum of the enterprise's standard outputs. If at least 2/3 of the standard output consists of a single product, the enterprise belongs to the type of farming corresponding to this product. If no such product is found, the farm is classified as a mixed farm. The types of farming are: 1: Cereal, oilseed, and protein crop farms 2: Other crop farms 3: Horticulture indoor 4: Horticulture outdoor 5: Dairy farms 6: Other cattle farms 7: Sheep and goat farms 8: Pig farms 9: Poultry farms 10: Mixed production The types of farming are further divided into branches of production. For example, pig farms are divided into those practicing piglet production, pork production, and combined production. Weighting FADN/FSDN farms are larger than average. However, the farms and their results are weighted by coefficients that reflect their prevalence. Small FADN/FSDN farms receive larger coefficients, which increases their share. In this way, the results depict the economic results of average farms. The weighting is based on the numbers of all full-time (farm size over 15,000 SO euros) agricultural and horticultural enterprises in different subsidy areas, types of farming, and farm size classes during each financial year. These FADN/FSDN enterprises with over 15,000 SO euros represent approximately the 25,000 largest agricultural and horticultural enterprises, which produce 97 percent of Finland's agricultural and horticultural production.
