Reporting System EconomyDoctor systems selections and operating principles The EconomyDoctor Agriculture and Horticulture online service is based on a flexible reporting system and user interface, enabling comprehensive analysis of the economic performance and forecast results of Finnish agriculture and horticulture. The results are based on the FADN/FSDN farm accountancy data network maintained by Luke (Natural Resources Institute Finland). The service provides key indicators and calculations as annual time series by production line. In the My Selections section, users can flexibly choose their desired report, classifications, and several other options. These selections make it possible to generate millions of different tables. Completed result tables can be customized in various ways and saved in different formats. The service is available in Finnish, Swedish, and English. KEY VARIABLES AND CALCULATIONS FROM THE DROP-DOWN MENU Key indicators and calculations can be selected from the drop-down menu on the left-hand side. This makes it possible to display financial calculations as time series covering approximately the last ten years. If only one indicator is selected, classifications such as production line or a regional classification can also be applied. MY SELECTIONS SECTION The My Selections section offers significantly more flexible selection options, enabling EconomyDoctor to produce millions of different outputs. Users can make the following selections: Report Selection A total of 22 reports are available, of which users can select one report at a time. 12 national reports provide national outputs and key indicators. 10 reports provides SE variables Deflation Option The variables in all reports can be deflated to the price level of a selected year. Deflation is based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Only variables expressed in euros are deflated. Relative indicators are naturally not subject to deflation. Division Option Dividing variables facilitates analysis. Variables in all reports can be divided by cultivated area, number of livestock units or number of dairy cows. The calculation uses cultivated area, not the area of farmland owned by the entrepreneur. If the number of livestock units is selected as the divisor, the system automatically includes the production line classification and restricts results to livestock production sectors. If the user has already selected production lines, only livestock production lines will be included in the output. As with deflation, only euro-denominated variables are divided. Relative variables are not divided. Average output or inclusion of good/weak groups Users may view only group averages or choose to include good and weak groups, or the best-performing and weakest-performing groups. If these options are selected, the user must specify which variable is used as the basis for classifying farms into good and poor performance groups. Inclusion of own farm or example farms Users may include production-line-specific example farms, which do not represent actual farms. These illustrate how a farm participating in the FADN/FSDN farm accountancy system can view its own data as a separate column in the tables. Participating entrepreneurs may also include their own farm as one of the table columns. All the above options can be used in any possible combination. Classifiers Users can select up to four optional classifiers in a single table from approximately 15 available classifiers. Each classifier contains subcategories from which users can freely select the desired options. In all cases, "Year" must be selected as one classifier, and at least one year must be chosen as a subcategory. Available classifiers include regional classifications, production line classifications, and others. Groups are formed by retrieving all farms that belong to the user-selected classes and subcategories. The calculation of weighting factors is based on the regional classifications selected for the table. The system displays individual group results only when the group contains at least five farms. If fewer than five farms belong to the group, average results for that group are not displayed. However, those farms are still included in columns presenting overall group averages. Only entrepreneurs participating in the FADN/FSDN farm accountancy system can view the results of their own farms after logging into the service. Generation of result tables The reporting system retrieves farms belonging to the selected categories and dynamically calculates the requested average report. The results of FADN/FSDN farms are weighted to ensure representativeness by region, production line and farm size category. Weighting factors are calculated according to the total number of farms representing the selected production lines and farm size classes in each region. If the user does not select a regional classifier, weighting is based on the subsidy area classification system. The reports display the number of bookkeeping farms by classification and the total number of farms, rounded to whole numbers. Result variables are generally presented in rounded form. PROCESSING RESULT TABLES Completed result reports can be reformatted by rotating classifications using the buttons located above the output table. Comparisons are easiest between adjacent columns, and the buttons allow users to rearrange classifications accordingly. This makes it convenient, for example, to switch between within-year comparisons and time-series analyses. A dedicated button allows users to switch to full-screen mode. Result reports can be saved locally in the following formats: Excel, PDF, CSV, JSON HTML. In addition, the EMBED option provides a short code snippet that can be copied and embedded into a website, allowing an up-to-date table or report to be displayed in real time on the user's own web pages.
